End of Year Report: 2012

Our final meeting of the year occurred on Dec. 31, 2011 in conjunction with our specialty show. We were very pleased at the turnout and comraderie shared by all. Please welcome our new members: Todd Biddle, Nancy Taylor, and Gabby Mast. We look forward to sharing more shows and fun with you in the future.

This year was also an election year. The IDDRC would like to thank outgoing officers Shelly and Caitlynn Strobel for their hard work and wish them well in their new endeavors. The new officers were all elected by acclamation and ran unopposed. Our new officers are as follows:

President- Kelli Slack
Vice President- Paul Matthys
Secretary- Chris Matthys
Treasurer- Val Slack
Directors- Madison Rogers, Dustin Pruett, Danielle Feller, and Zayne Hunter
Ex-Officio Directors- Scott Williamson and Kelly Correll

Our upcoming shows for the spring will be on February 4, 2012 and April 7, 2012. Showbills are available on the website as usual. The Feb. show will start at 8am. This is a double all breeds show and a specialty. We will be in the second building (with the food) with two other specialty breeds. This should help with the congestion that happened at the show last year. The judges will be rotated through the building instead of moving the Dutch. The April show will start at 9am (or the discretion of the host club, if needed). Any changes to this schedule will be posted on the blog.

We are still working on the Double Dutch Spectacular. Our ideal date is Saturday, May 19, 2012. One possible location for our double specialty is Wabash, IN. We are pursuing this option at the moment. This show would be a fundraiser for our scholarship fund.

We are trying to establish a small scholarship fund to be awarded either fall 2012 or spring 2013. To date we have raised $179 from the sale of candy bars, bottle cap necklaces, and hair feathers. We are also putting most of the profits from our New Year’s Eve Show towards this fund. Rules will be established by a committee in time to award the scholarship by spring 2013.

Our treasury as of Dec. 30, 2011 stands at $179 in the scholarship fund, $600.52 in the checking account, and $26.75 in cash.

Our membership voted to split the in-state and out-of-state sweepstakes contests starting with our 2012 shows. We are looking for clever names to denote the new sweepstakes categories. Please send any ideas to one of your IDDRC officers.

We also want to congratulate our members on their BOV, BOSV, and BOB placings at the 2011 National Convention: Danielle Feller, Erica Haas, Brianna Haas, Alexa Demland, Jacalynn Gumz, Kelli Slack, Todd Biddle, Nancy Taylor, and Scott Williamson. Thank you to everyone who assisted with the 2011 National Convention your presence and hard work were appreciated by all.

As a reminder, the 2012 National Dutch show will be held in Lebanon, PA April 12-15. Todd Biddle invited us all to make the trip out to Pennsylvania for fun and excitement in April.

Upcoming Show and Annual Meeting: December 31, 2011

Our last specialty show for the 2011 show season will be December 31, 2011 at the Tippecanoe Co. Fairgrounds on Teal Rd. in Lafayette, IN. Entries for the specialty show are due by noon with the show to start at 1pm. The Golden Prairie RBA all breeds show will begin at 4pm and Dutch will be a starting breed. Youth Dutch will start first for our show as the Open showed first at the Rochester, IN show in November. IDDRC showbill( showbill Dec 31 2011) GPRBA showbill ( GPRBA NYE Show11a)

We are planning a small carry-in lunch from 12-1pm. Please bring your own dinnerware service and a dish large enough for approx. 25-30 people to share. We may not have access to electricity, so please bring items that do not need to be warmed up to enjoy. If you are planning to participate in the carry-in lunch and the specialty show, please e-mail Kelli (haydayhills AT aol DOT com) so that we have an idea of numbers for the lunch.

Our last show of the year is also the location for our annual meeting. This year is an election year. If you intend to run for office, please send your name and the office you are pursuing to Kelli (haydayhills AT aol DOT com). We will elect the President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and 3 Directors. All officers must be current members of the ARBA and are expected to attend and assist with as many of the specialty shows as possible. You need not be present to be considered for an office. Nominations must be received by Dec. 30, 2011. Out-going officers are listed on the the officer page here.

Edited to Add: I almost forgot, Susie Feller will be selling and installing Hair Feathers and Tinsel at the New Year’s Eve show as well. Hair Feathers will be discounted to $10 and Tinsel to $5. Part of each sale will be donated to our IDDRC Scholarship fund.

IDDRC Invites You to Participate in the 88th ARBA Convention

The Indiana Diamond Dutch Rabbit Club is excited to welcome our fellow Dutch breeders to Indiana for the 88^th Annual ARBA Convention in just a few weeks. We have several exciting things planned and hope you’ll enjoy the many sights and sounds that Indiana has to offer.

As a courtesy to our fellow breeders we will have cardboard available to help prevent nose injuries. We know that space can be tight when you pack for an “away” show and wanted to offer cardboard for those who need it. Please remember to bring a cutting tool as we will have only a few available.

Please plan to make a pit-stop at the booth and check out the wonderful booth decorations courtesy of Melody Stremkowski, the Pruett Family, and the Matthys Family. Hopefully we will also have an updated prototype of the new guidebook for everyone to peruse.

Sunday morning we will have coffee and donuts available in the Dutch hospitality booth from 7-9 am for those who would like a quick snack. The breakfast items are being donated by Paul, Chris, and Megan Matthys. So, if you see them at Convention, please thank them for their generous donation.

On Saturday from 3-5 pm and Sunday from 1-3 pm our member-mom, stylist Susie Feller, will be offering fashionable feathers for your hair for $15. Five dollars from each feather installation will be donated to our IDDRC Youth Scholarship fund. We will also be selling bottle-cap necklaces, handmade cards, and candy to help fund our scholarship, so stop by, support our youth members, and take home a little souvenir of Indiana.

Upcoming ISRBA State Convention

Date: Sunday, September 11, 2011 in conjunction with the ISRBA State Convention (3 Shows in 1 weekend)

The Dutch Specialty will follow the conclusion of the Tan Specialty on Joel Marshall’s table.
Entries: $3.00 for members, $3.50 for non-members

Membership must be paid prior to show to receive points, award plates, and reduced entry.

Pre-entries will be accepted until Aug. 27, 2011. Entries may also be made during the ISRBA State Convention. All entries and changes are due by 7am on Sunday, Sept. 11, 2011.
